About

Bear River Campground sits at about 8,400 feet just off the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway, roughly 27 miles south of Evanston, Wyoming, in the Uinta Mountains. The site is small and quiet: there are 4 single campsites that accommodate both RVs and tents, each outfitted with a picnic table and a metal fire ring, and a vault restroom serves the loop. The campground is located along the Bear River, with direct river access for anglers, and the surrounding landscape is a thin stand of pine and aspen with limited shade; summer wildflowers and grasses add color to the openings between trees. Within about 5 miles you'll find hiking, backpacking, mountain-biking and more fishing opportunities, and the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway provides access to numerous high alpine lakes, trailheads into the High Uintas Wilderness, and additional campgrounds and viewpoints. Practical details matter here: the 4 single sites are priced at $22.00 per night and are designed for up to 8 people plus 1 vehicle per site; day-use is $15.00, extra vehicles are $10.00 each, and trailhead overnight parking is $5.00 per vehicle. Acceptable payments on-site include cash, check, or Scan & Pay via the Recreation.gov app; reservations and refunds are handled through Recreation.gov (transactions appear as "Recreation.gov 877-444-6777 NM"). Standard reservation rules apply a $10 service fee is withheld from refunds, switching reservation dates entirely outside your original booking carries a $10 change fee, and late cancellations (the day before or of arrival) result in a $10 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's use fee. No-shows are assessed a $20.00 fee and forfeit the first night's fee. Eligible Interagency Pass discounts (Senior Annual, Senior Lifetime, Access, Golden Age, Golden Access) apply only to the recreation/use fee for individual campsites and require the pass holder to occupy the site. For facility-specific questions call (385) 273-1100.
