Hayden Fork Campground sits at about 8,800 feet along the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway, roughly 40 miles south of Evanston, Wyoming, in the Uinta Mountains. The small site cluster nine single campsites that accommodate both tents and RVs and each hold up to eight people lines a stretch of the Hayden Fork River, with several small beaver ponds dotting the meadow nearby. Sites come with picnic tables and fire rings, and vault restrooms are available on site; the surrounding stand of thin pine and aspen provides only limited shade, so expect bright summer days and cool nights at elevation. The road approach follows WY-150/UT-150 onto Forest Road 116, and payment on arrival can be made with cash or check or by using the Recreation.gov app's Scan & Pay option; a standard overnight site fee is $22.00, day use is $15.00, extra vehicles are $10.00 each, and trailhead overnight parking (if you're leaving a vehicle for a hike) is $5.00 per vehicle. Recreation around Hayden Fork is straightforward and low-key: the river running beside the campground is the main draw for fishing, and trailheads offering hikes and backpacking into the High Uinta Wilderness are close at hand; ATV/ohv trail riding is also supported in the surrounding network. Because the campground is small and lightly developed, it tends toward quiet, and you should come prepared with your own water and supplies. Reservations are managed through Recreation.gov and carry standard service and change rules: a $10 service fee is withheld on cancellations, and late cancellations (the day before or day of arrival) incur the $10 fee plus forfeiture of the first night's use fee (one-night reservations forfeit the full amount). Changing dates entirely also carries a $10 change fee, while extending or shortening within your original reservation dates usually has no fee; no-shows are assessed a $20 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's recreation fee. Interagency pass discounts apply only to individual campsite recreation fees (eligible passes include Senior Annual/Lifetime, Access, Golden Age, and Golden Access), the pass holder must occupy the site, and refunds must be requested through your Recreation.gov profile within seven days of the reservation end date (card refunds go back to the original card; refunds for cash or check are mailed as Treasury checks).
