Christmas Meadows Campground sits at about 8,800 feet on a low knoll above Stillwater Fork and the sweep of Christmas Meadows, so most of the 10 campsites each configured to accept both RVs and tents look down over the meadow and the stream below. The sites are single-family units with picnic tables and metal campfire rings; roads and parking spurs are dirt, and each site's posted capacity is up to eight people plus one vehicle. Basic services are provided: vault toilets, drinking water, and trash collection, and the campground host sells firewood. A thin stand of lodgepole pine and patches of aspen give limited shade while summer wildflowers dot the meadow; because the setting is alpine, expect cooler nights and clear starfields when skies are open. Outdoor access is immediate: the Christmas Meadows Trail begins just outside the loop for hikers and horseback riders, and Stillwater Fork reachable right from the campground is a popular stretch for fly-fishing for cutthroat and brook trout. The site is a few miles off the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway (about 36 miles from Evanston, WY, via Highway 150 to Christmas Meadows Road), putting you on a corridor that leads to high alpine lakes, many trailheads and routes into the High Uintas Wilderness; the broader Uinta-Wasatch-Cache area supports biking, OHV routes, canoeing and wildlife viewing. Fees and payment options are straightforward: single sites are $27 per night, day use is $15, extra vehicles $10, and trailhead overnight parking is $5; payments accepted by cash, check or Scan & Pay through the recreation.gov app. Reservations follow standard Recreation.gov policies a $10 service fee applies to most changes or cancellations, late cancellations may forfeit the first night's fee, no-shows can incur a $20 fee and forfeit use fees, and refund requests must be made within 14 days of your scheduled departure so call the facility at (385) 273-1100 or Recreation.gov/1-877-444-6777 for booking and policy questions.
