About

Mirror Lake Campground sits at about 10,400 feet on the shore of its namesake lake, with the 11,943-foot Bald Mountain rising nearby and a stand of white firs shading many sites. The lake itself is restricted to non-motorized boats, so the campground is a quiet place for canoeing, kayaking and rainbow trout fishing; a small boat ramp and a gravel interpretive trail that circles the water offer easy access to both. Trails and route junctions for hikers, bikers, horseback riders and off-road vehicle users fan out from the byway; the Highline Trail and paths to Bonnie Lake, Scudder Lake, Naturalist Basin and Fehr Lake are all reachable from the area, and a separate equestrian loop provides hitching rails and feeding boxes for stock users (sites 65 79 are noted as equestrian-equipped). The campground contains a total of 77 sites: 64 that accommodate both RVs and tents and 13 dedicated equestrian sites; loop counts are Loop A 24 sites, Loop B 14 sites, Loop C 16 sites and Loop D 9 sites. Sites provide tent pads, picnic and utility tables and campfire rings with grills; several are accessible and many offer partial lake views. Vault toilets, drinking water, trash collection and firewood for purchase from the host are provided, but roads and parking spurs are dirt. Practical details to plan around: the site fee structure is set so there are 66 single sites at $29 (capacity 8), 10 double sites at $58 (capacity 16) and one triple site at $86 (capacity 24); day-use is $15 and extra vehicles are $10 each. Payments accepted on site include cash, check or Scan & Pay via the Recreation.gov app; reservations and most transactions appear on statements as "Recreation.gov 877-444-6777." Reservation changes or cancellations incur a $10 service fee and late cancellations typically forfeit the first night's use fee; no-shows can be assessed a $20 service fee and forfeit use fees refund requests must be made within 14 days of departure. For facility-specific questions call (385) 273-1100. Mirror Lake is reached via the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway (Highway 150) off UT-32 near Kamas and is part of the broader Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest where visitors commonly enjoy auto touring, biking, boating, camping, fishing, hiking, horse camping and riding, interpretive programs, OHV use, picnicking, RV camping, swimming and wildlife viewing.
