What guests say

Verbatim from guest reviews on Recreation.gov ↗ (124 reviews, ★ 4.0). Not written or edited by us.

“Very nice place but they need to fix the running water situation. That’s part of what you pay for so they should fix it or lower the price.”

Scott N 3 · Sep 2025 · Recreation.gov

“Clean, quiet, fresh air, beautiful trees, lots of deer, chipmunks and squirrels. Had a great time for five days! Will definitely be back. Friendly staff too!”

About

Trial Lake Campground sits at about 9,500 feet along the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway in the Uinta Mountains, with most sites looking out across the spruce- and white-fir framed shore of Trial Lake. The loop contains 57 campsites in total 53 sites configured for both RVs and tents and 4 sites designed for RV use all with picnic tables and metal campfire rings, and several with tent pads. Roads and parking spurs are paved, vault toilets and trash collection are provided, and firewood can be purchased from the on-site host. Standard site capacities and fees apply: single sites accommodate up to 8 people and 1 vehicle ($29), double sites accommodate up to 16 people and 2 vehicles ($58); extra vehicles are $10 each and day-use picnic areas are $15. Payment options include cash, check, or Scan & Pay through the recreation.gov app. For facility-specific questions call (385) 273-1100; make reservations or changes through Recreation.gov (reservation line 1-877-444-6777). The campground is primarily a base for water and mountain recreation: Trial Lake itself is suited to canoeing, kayaking and fishing for rainbow trout, and popular trailheads for Crystal Lake and Bald Mountain are about a mile away at Washington Lake Campground. The Mirror Lake Scenic Byway follows the Lower Provo River and provides access to numerous additional high-alpine lakes, streams and trail systems for hiking, biking, horseback riding and off-highway vehicle use; routes off the byway also lead into the High Uintas Wilderness. Summer daytime temperatures typically range from the mid-60s to mid-70s Fahrenheit, dropping into the 40s at night, so expect cool evenings and pack warm layers. Reservation and cancellation policies are administered through Recreation.gov: a $10 service fee applies to most changes and cancellations, late cancellations may forfeit the first night's use fee (and no-shows can incur additional service fees), and refund requests must be made within 14 days of departure; Recreation.gov transactions appear on statements as "Recreation.gov 877-444-6777."
