About

Sulphur Campground sits along the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway on the west side of Highway 150, about 39 miles south of Evanston, Wyoming (roughly 40 miles from Kamas, Utah by the same route). At about 9,100 feet in elevation, the site is framed by stands of pines and aspens with summer wildflowers scattering the meadows; the Hayden Fork of the Bear River runs right next to the campground, feeding streams and alpine lakes higher in the Uintas. A short trail from the campground leads to Bourbon Lake, and several other trailheads along the Mirror Lake corridor provide access into the High Uintas Wilderness for longer hikes, backpacking, horseback trips or ATV routes. Fishing and canoeing are common on the nearby waterways, and the wider Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest offers auto touring, biking, boating, horse camping and riding, interpretive programs, off-highway vehicle recreation, picnicking, swimming and wildlife viewing. The campground has 21 total campsites: 20 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and one tent-only site. Individual sites (single-family and double-family types) come with picnic tables and fire rings with grills; one group site set up with three large picnic tables, a big fire ring with benches and parking areas will hold up to about 25 people. Vault toilets and garbage service are provided, a campground host is on site, and roads and parking spurs are dirt; potable water is available but may be limited, so plan accordingly. Fees and payment options listed are cash, check, or Scan & Pay through the Recreation.gov app: individual single-family sites are shown at $27 (capacity 8), double sites $53 (capacity 16), day use $15, extra vehicle $10, and trailhead overnight parking $5. The published group-site fee appears to be incorrect in the materials provided (listed as $67,600); please confirm pricing and make reservations through Recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777 and for facility-specific questions call (385) 273-1100. Note the reservation rules: a $10 service fee applies to most changes or cancellations, late cancellations typically forfeit the first night's fee, no-shows may face additional charges, and refund requests must be made within 14 days of departure check Recreation.gov for full details.
