About

Stillwater Campground sits at about 8,500 feet along Highway 150 (the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway), roughly 32 miles south of Evanston, Wyoming, and about 46 miles from Kamas when traveling the byway. The campground is set beside the Stillwater Fork where it nears the Hayden Fork, so the sound of moving water and easy access to trout streams are part of the setting. There are 23 total sites: 21 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents, one dedicated tent site and one glamping site; in addition the facility offers four group overnight sites (three that fit up to 50 people and one for up to 25) and two group picnic sites for gatherings. Sites come with picnic tables and campfire rings, group sites have large tables and parking areas, and a day-use picnic area sits at the end of the campground road. Basic services include vault toilets and trash collection; roads and parking spurs are dirt. Payment options accepted are Cash, Check, or Scan & Pay via the recreation.gov app. Fishing on the Stillwater and Hayden Forks is a primary draw fly anglers target cutthroat and brook trout and trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding and off-highway vehicles fan out from the byway into the surrounding Uinta Mountains. The Mirror Lake corridor also provides access to high alpine lakes and the High Uintas Wilderness from multiple trailheads, plus opportunities for auto touring, canoeing and wildlife viewing. Practical notes for planning: standard single sites are listed at $27 (capacity 8), the glamping site is $109 (capacity 8, deposit required), group site fees range from $89 to $102, day use is $15, extra vehicles $10, and trailhead overnight parking $5. Changes or cancellations typically incur a $10 service fee and late cancellations or no-shows may forfeit the first night's fee (additional penalties can apply); request refunds within 14 days of departure. For site-specific questions or to make reservations, call the local office at (385) 273-1100 or Recreation.gov / 1-877-444-6777.
