Pick up in Monroe“We appreciate the new system of obtaining the key to the gate at Verlot. That allowed us to lock the gate when we left for activities during the day. Thank you for installing this new system.”
“Although the river has taken out part of the campsite, this is still a beautiful though small place to camp.”
“A great family camping spot. The view of the Big Four is amazing!”

Beaver Creek Group Camp sits on a broad, fairly flat shelf beside the Stillaguamish River, with old-growth cedar, fir and hemlock rising close to the sites and moss-covered boulders scattered through the understory. The single group site looks across a ribbon of river and up toward the north face of Big Four Mountain (6,153 feet), where the Big Four Ice Caves open into view in late summer and can remain visible into October. The campground is reached via the Mountain Loop Road in the Mountain Loop area of the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest roughly 12 miles east of the Verlot Public Service Center, just past the tiny community of Silverton, and reached from the Granite Falls area by following the Highway 7 scenic byway into the loop. On a clear day Mt. Baker's snow-clad summit (10,781 feet) is visible from the wider forest; wildlife in the region ranges from common black bears and many songbirds to rarer species recorded in the Cascades such as lynx and moose, so standard precautions and bear-safe food storage are recommended. There is just one reservable site here a large group campsite that can accommodate about 15 campers and a mix of tents and RVs equipped with tent pads, picnic tables, and campfire rings with grills. Vault toilets are provided but there is no drinking water on site, so bring adequate water for cooking and drinking. The campground is well placed for summer and early-fall pursuits like hiking (Big Four Ice Caves Trail is nearby), fishing, picnicking and horseback riding; in winter the same roads and trails provide access for skiing and snowshoeing. The short, barrier-free Gold Basin Mill Pond interpretive trail and floating viewpoint are an easy side trip across from Gold Basin Campground, and the Pacific Crest Trail, North Cascades and Mount Rainier areas are within driving distance for longer excursions. Reservations are managed through Recreation.gov; note that once your reservation start date has begun neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager can modify it for facility-specific questions call (360) 386-8214.
