“The host was super nice and helpful. Bathroom was clean and the campsite was pretty quiet. Beautiful place to camp. ”

Verlot Campground sits just off the Mountain Loop Highway in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest on the west side of the Cascades, roughly 11 miles east of Granite Falls and within reach of the broad landscapes between the Canadian border and Mount Rainier. The campground borders the South Fork Stillaguamish River and provides direct access to Benson Creek, making the sound of flowing water and easy fishing a defining part of a stay here; the river corridor supports salmon runs of chinook, coho, chum, pink and sockeye. Hikers will find the Mt. Dickerman Trail close by a steep, roughly 3-mile switchback that climbs through dark forest to an alpine meadow replanted after a 1915 fire and continues to a 5,723-foot summit with wide views and July August wildflower displays. Beyond the immediate trails, the larger forest offers a long list of recreation options from auto touring and mountain biking to horseback riding, interpretive programs, winter sports and overnight stays in historic fire lookouts but many of those activities require travel away from the campground into the broader Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie network. The campground itself is compact and quietly managed, with 24 total sites: 21 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and 3 tent-only sites. Sites are standard with picnic tables; there are flush toilets and drinking water on site, but no electrical hookups, so RV travelers should plan accordingly. You can step down to the river from the campground for angling or river-side time, and the nearby Verlot Public Service Center built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s and listed on the National Register of Historic Places is worth a short visit for its history. Reservations and fee details are handled through Recreation.gov; note the reservation policy that once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager can modify your reservation. For facility-specific questions call (360) 386-8214, and check current road, trail and seasonal conditions before traveling, as access on the Mountain Loop Highway and local trails can vary with weather.
