David L ★ 4 · Aug 2025A great campground for tenters, vans and very small RVs/trailers. Please leave your generators and amplified music at home. I wish I could bring my dog, but I underatnd why I can't, and you shouldn't try to sneak your dog here either, as it is a drinking water source for the city. I love this place but please let's fix the water supply, it's been too many years, and not only is it an inconvenience but too many people just go to bed with their campfires still smoldering. The campsites along the river are great and the camp host is amazing!
Kent H ★ 5 · Aug 2025Our experience at the Tanner flat amphitheater was perfect. The campground host was very pleasant and did an awesome job of helping us know where to park and keep things in order for all of the group sites as well. She also took a few minutes to get to know us personally. We felt very welcome there.
Tamara K ★ 5 · Jun 2025Rented the entire day, so my son could get married. Only use the site for about an hour and a half, it was absolutely perfect the host woman, I forget her name ,was absolutely lovely and wonderful. She was so helpful and had to keep telling people to leave the site.Because it was rented.

Tanners Flat sits at about 7,200 feet on the lower reaches of Little Cottonwood Canyon, roughly 6 miles from the town of Sandy and an easy drive from the Salt Lake valley. The campground contains 41 sites in total: 30 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents, 9 tent-only sites and 2 glamping sites. Roads and parking spurs are paved, drinking water is provided, and you'll find a mix of flush and vault toilets. Camp units have picnic tables and campfire rings; firewood can be purchased from the on-site host. There's a volleyball court (you must bring your own net and ball), and an amphitheater with benches and a presentation area is available in four-hour blocks (8 a.m. 12 p.m., 1 5 p.m., 6 10 p.m.) though it does not include tables or a fire ring. Payment options include cash, check or Scan & Pay; single sites are currently $31, double sites $63, the two glamping sites are $111 (deposit required), amphitheater blocks run $63, group sites A C are $136 (capacity 25), group site D is $228 (capacity 50), and extra vehicles are $10 each. For facility-specific questions call (385) 273-1100. The campground's character comes from the streamside setting and mixed forest of pine, aspen, oak and maple that shades sites and colors the seasons wildflowers in summer and vivid leaves in fall. Little Cottonwood Creek runs along the campground and supports local trout fishing and fly-fishing. Numerous trailheads for hiking and mountain biking are found in the canyon: popular hikes include Red Pine Lake, White Pine Lake and Maybird Gulch, while mountain bikers often ride the Cottonwood Creek and Albion Meadows trails; rock climbers also frequent the canyon. Snowbird and Alta are just a few miles up-canyon Snowbird offers tram rides, shops and seasonal attractions, and Albion Basin hosts wildflower walks and a short trail to Cecret Lake. Reservations and changes go through Recreation.gov; note the $10 service fee for reservation changes or cancellations, late-cancellation penalties that can include forfeiture of the first night's use fee, possible no-show fees, and a 14-day window for refund requests.
