“Make sure you don't reserve this site on the day of a marathon. Otherwise, the site is pretty much as advertised.”
“Disappointing Experience — Not Worth the Price The tables are literally falling apart, with warped boards, splinters everywhere, and peeling paint. Since the tables are the primary attraction of the site, that makes the entire area look neglected and unsafe. ”

Jordan Pines sits at about 7,500 feet in Big Cottonwood Canyon, less than a half-hour drive from Salt Lake City, with the campground reached roughly nine miles up the canyon from Wasatch Boulevard. The site is set among shady pines and aspens, offering open views of the surrounding peaks, bright summer wildflowers and a vivid display of fall color. Outdoor options are immediate: the Donut Falls Trail begins nearby for an easy waterfall hike, Big Cottonwood Creek is popular with fly-anglers, and the wider canyon supports a network of hiking, mountain biking and climbing routes. Solitude Mountain Resort is about four miles farther up-canyon for chairlift rides, a few dining options and an 18-hole disc golf course; Silver Lake is another mile beyond for a short loop trail, canoeing and lake fishing. Jordan Pines is managed as a group-only campground and requires a reservation. The site contains four overnight group campsites in total three that accommodate both RVs and tents and one tent-only site plus a single day-use picnic group site. Each group area is equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings and grills; vault toilets and drinking water are available, and roads and parking spurs are paved. There's a volleyball court and a horseshoe pit (bring your own net, ball and horseshoes). Fees are posted per group site: Pine Grove Overnight Group Site $394 (capacity 125), Limber Grove, Lodgepole Grove and Ponderosa Grove Overnight Group Sites $328 each (capacity 100 each), and the Pinion Day Use Picnic Group Site $167 (capacity 50); extra vehicles are $10 each. Reservations and changes go through Recreation.gov (transactions appear on your card as "Recreation.gov 877-444-6777") or by calling 1-877-444-6777; for facility-specific questions call (385) 273-1100. Note the reservation policies: a $10 service fee applies to most changes and cancellations, group overnight facility cancellations within 14 days of arrival incur the $10 fee and forfeit the first night's use fee, no-shows may be assessed up to a $20 fee and forfeit charges, and refund requests must be made within 14 days after departure.
