“Quiet, clean bathrooms, beautiful scenery from campsite. Camped on a Sunday night, so no noise from construction, and the campground was only about 1/2 full. Loved the close proximity to Cecret Lake.”
“What a beautiful destination! Small, but so beautiful. We will be back - especially if George and his wife are the camp hosts. They were outstanding. ”
“I really appreciated George, one of the hosts. He was a great resource. Thanks!”

Albion Basin Campground sits high in Little Cottonwood Canyon at about 9,500 feet, roughly a 15-mile drive from Sandy, Utah, and is shaded by stands of white pine and aspen with a small stream threading the basin. The campground is the trailhead for several popular hikes the path to Cecret Lake starts right at the site, and nearby routes include Catherine Pass/Sunset Peak and the Albion Meadows and Cardiff Pass/Twin Lake Pass systems while mountain bikers commonly use the Albion Basin Road and the trail to Germania Pass. The basin is especially notable for vivid summer wildflowers and hosts the Wasatch Wildflower Festival in late July or early August with guided walks; wildlife viewers may spot moose and deer in the basin and mountain goats on the cliffs of Devils Castle. Snowbird Resort is only a few miles down-canyon, offering additional non-camp options such as tram rides, restaurants, grocery services, and summer attractions like an alpine slide and zip lines. The campground has 24 sites in total all reservation-only and each site is configured to accommodate both tents and RVs. The sites are divided into 22 single, one double, and one triple, and every campsite includes a picnic table and a campfire ring; vault toilets are available but roads and parking spurs are dirt. Vehicle allowances are specific: single sites permit up to 2 vehicles with 1 vehicle included in the site fee, doubles allow up to 4 (2 included), and the triple site permits up to 6 vehicles (3 included); extra vehicles are charged $10 per car per day. Expect the last couple miles on a maintained gravel access road into the basin where an information booth operated in partnership with the ski area and volunteer hosts will direct you to the campground. Beyond walking and biking from camp, Little Cottonwood Canyon and the broader Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest offer a wide range of recreation opportunities including rock climbing, fly-fishing, auto touring, interpretive programs, and wildlife viewing.
