About

Ledgefork Campground sits just above Smith and Morehouse Reservoir on the western edge of the Uinta Mountains, about 14 miles from the small town of Oakley and reached by Forest Road 33 off Weber Canyon Road. The site is set at roughly 7,800 feet in a mixed conifer and aspen stand with Smith and Morehouse Creek running through the campground and the reservoir a short walk (about a quarter-mile) away. The looped layout contains 71 campsites in total 32 sites in Loop A and 39 in Loop B and most sites are set up for both RVs and tent camping (65 sites), while six are tent-only. Picnic tables and metal campfire rings are standard at each site, vault toilets serve the loops, and the campground host sells firewood. Payment is accepted by cash, check, or Scan & Pay; single campsites generally carry a fee of $29, double sites $57, and day-use/picnicking is $15. Note additional charges: an extra vehicle is $10, boat launch use is $10 per launch (not included with campsite fees), and a season boat-launch pass is $60. What draws most visitors here are the water and trail opportunities immediately outside camp. The reservoir permits motorized boats but enforces wake-less speed limits, which makes it popular for kayaking, canoeing and quiet boating; a boat ramp sits on the reservoir's northwest shore. Anglers fish for stocked rainbow trout and native species, and the 12-mile round-trip Smith and Morehouse Trail begins within the campground, threading through forest, meadows and marshes before branching toward Erickson Basin and Island Lake a solid option for hikers and backpackers. Wildlife is common around the water; deer and moose are reported in the area. Summer daytime temperatures typically run 65 75°F and drop to 40 50°F at night. Reservations and changes are handled through Recreation.gov (phone 1-877-444-6777); be aware of the reservation policies a $10 service fee applies to changes or cancellations, late cancellations can result in forfeiture of the first night's fee, and no-shows may face additional service fees and for facility-specific questions you can call (385) 273-1100.
