Shingle Creek ATV Campground sits along the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway in the Uinta Mountains, about a 10-mile drive east from Kamas on State Route 150. At roughly 7,400 feet elevation the campground is threaded with shady stands of pines and aspens that soften midday sun and put on strong color in autumn. The site serves as a practical base for a wide range of high-country activities: the Lower Provo River is nearby for trout fishing, trails such as North Fork and Shingle Creek invite hikes, rides and mountain biking, and the campground itself is open to off-highway vehicles two ATV trails start right inside the camp boundary. The facility contains 21 single campsites that accept both RVs and tents, each equipped with a picnic table and a metal fire ring; vault toilets are located throughout the loop. Sites are rated for up to 8 people plus one vehicle (extra vehicles are $10 each), and day-use picnicking is available for $15. Practicalities are straightforward but important to note: nightly camping is $22 per site, payable by cash, check, or Scan & Pay through the recreation.gov app. Reservations and changes follow the Recreation.gov rules a $10 service fee is withheld on cancellations, and changing dates entirely outside your original reservation also carries a $10 change fee; if you cancel the day before or on your arrival date you will pay the $10 service fee and forfeit the first night's use fee (one-night reservations forfeited in full). No-shows are assessed a $20 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's recreation fee. Interagency pass discounts are limited to certain passes (Senior Annual, Senior Lifetime, Access, Golden Age, Golden Access), apply only to the recreation/use fee for individual campsites, and require the pass holder to occupy the site. If you need a refund after an early departure or for other reasons, submit the request through your Recreation.gov profile (within seven days of the reservation end date) or contact the call center; emergency closures are refunded in full.
