“Great spot! The river access was incredible- nice swimming spot even with low water in late summer. The host was helpful and friendly, and it was the perfect distance off the road to have good access to mirror lake highway but no road noise or traffic. ”

Lower Provo Campground sits high in the Uinta Mountains about 11 miles east of Kamas on the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway, where a short spur leads down to the Lower Provo River. The site is at roughly 7,400 feet, tucked into stands of pines and aspens that provide solid shade in summer and vivid color in autumn, and the river is close enough for easy access to trout fishing and casual wading. Trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding including the nearby North Fork and Shingle Creek routes fan out from the area, and you'll also find off-highway vehicle routes in the vicinity for those bringing ORVs. The campground's setting favors anglers and trail users who want a compact, quiet base with direct river access and scenic drives along the Mirror Lake Byway nearby. There are TOTAL CAMPSITES: 10, and all ten are configured to accommodate both RVs and tents; each site includes a picnic table and a fire ring, and vault toilets serve the loop. Typical single-site fees are $22 per night, day-use is $15, and extra vehicles are charged $10; payments accepted on arrival include cash, check, or Scan & Pay through the recreation.gov app. Reservations and changes go through Recreation.gov expect a $10 service fee on cancellations, and late cancellations (the day before or day of arrival) incur the $10 fee and forfeiture of the first night's use fee; no-shows are assessed $20 plus forfeiture of the first night. There are limited interagency pass discounts (Senior/Access/Golden passes) that apply only to the recreation fee and require the pass holder to occupy the site. Refunds must be requested through your Recreation.gov profile (within 7 days of checkout for online requests) and will be issued back to the original form of payment; in an emergency closure all fees will be refunded.
