“We went to campground 8 and it was an amazing campsite, had its own little access trail to the river and was back in away from the road. We can’t wait to go back next year! ”
“Right next to the river, kid friendly places splash! Clean bathrooms”
“Really enjoyed Upper Meadows Campground. Host was friendly, and helpful. He cleaned the vault toilet twice a day. Campsites with an even number have access to the river. We were able to float the river right from our campsite and hike back.”

Upper Meadows Campground sits at about 5,300 feet along the shady banks of the South Fork of the Ogden River, where cottonwoods and willow shelter nine single campsites from sun and offer direct, easy river access. Each of the 9 sites accommodates both RVs and tents, has a cement table pad, picnic table and a metal fire ring, and is reached via gravel spurs and roads; vault restrooms are provided on site. The river is the main draw here fishing and tubing are particularly popular (note: life jackets are required for tubers) and visitors often combine a quiet riverside day with a short drive to Causey Reservoir three miles east or to Pineview Reservoir for additional boating, swimming and fishing. Wildlife sightings, including deer and the occasional moose, are common in the willowy riparian corridor, and the campground is part of a chain of South Fork sites along Highway 39 east of Ogden and roughly eight miles from Huntsville, with Monte Cristo Summit, ATV trails and numerous hiking and horseback routes within easy reach. Practical details matter at this compact site: there are exactly 9 single sites, each priced at $29 per night and posted with a maximum capacity of 8 people. Day-use parking costs $15, extra vehicles are $10 each, and walk-in visitors are $8 per person; payments can be made by cash, check, or Scan & Pay through the Recreation.gov app. Reservations follow standard Recreation.gov rules: a $10 service fee is withheld from any refund, and cancelling the day before or on the day of arrival incurs that $10 fee plus forfeiture of the first night's use fee (a one-night reservation cancelled at that time is forfeited in full). Changes made to shift dates entirely outside the original reservation carry a $10 change fee; extensions or shortenings that include original dates and same-price site swaps are not charged a change fee. No-shows are assessed a $20 service fee and forfeit the first night's fee. Interagency pass discounts (Senior Annual, Senior Lifetime, Access, Golden Age and Golden Access Passes) apply only to the recreation/use fee for individual campsites and require the pass holder to occupy the site; other fees and group facilities are not eligible. Refunds must be requested through your Recreation.gov profile (within 7 days of the reservation end) or by calling the call center; credit-card refunds return to the original card, while check or cash refunds are issued by Treasury check and can take 6 8 weeks. In the event of an emergency closure, the site manager or Recreation.gov will refund fees and attempt to notify affected customers.
