Botts Campground sits along a bend in the South Fork of the Ogden River about six miles east of Huntsville on Highway 39, at roughly 5,200 feet elevation. The site is small and intimate: seven campsites that can accommodate both tents and RVs, laid out among a stand of large, long-lived cottonwood and willow trees that provide patchy shade rather than a dense canopy. The river runs right alongside the campground, which has been used for camping since pioneer days and still draws people who want quick access to water anglers, day swimmers and those who tube the South Fork (note: life jackets are required for all tubers). Basic facilities are provided: picnic tables, metal fire rings and vault toilets; there are no listed hookups. A campground host is not stationed at Botts but hosts can be found at nearby Magpie or South Fork campgrounds. Getting here is straightforward from Ogden follow Highway 39 through Ogden Canyon and continue east into Ogden Valley, where the South Fork complex of campgrounds lines the highway. Fees are payable by cash, check or Scan & Pay through the recreation.gov app: six single sites are listed at $29 per night (capacity 8), and one double site is $58 per night (capacity 16); day-use is $15, walk-in admission $8 per person, and extra vehicles are $10. Reservations and changes follow standard recreation.gov rules: cancellations made before arrival are refundable minus a $10 service fee; late cancellations (the day before or day of arrival) incur the $10 service fee and forfeiture of the first night's use fee (one-night reservations are fully forfeited); changing dates entirely outside the original reservation carries a $10 change fee, while extending or shortening within the original dates generally does not. No-shows are assessed a $20 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night. Interagency passes (Senior Annual, Senior Lifetime, Access, Golden Age and Golden Access) can discount the recreation fee for individual campsites but do not cover extras like hookups or reservation fees, and the passholder must occupy the site to receive the discount. For facility-specific questions call (385) 273-1100 or manage bookings and refund requests through recreation.gov. Nearby recreation in Ogden Valley includes Pineview and Causey Reservoirs for boating and fishing, extensive hiking and ATV trail networks, horseback riding and scenic drives toward Monte Cristo Summit.
