“Nice campground, well hosted. Could use hookups or at least a dump station ”

Aspen Grove Campground sits at about 7,800 feet on the slopes above the Soldier Creek arm of Strawberry Reservoir, offering open views of the water and a clear contrast between two distinct loops. Loop A (23 sites) threads through dense stands of aspen, giving reliable shade in summer and vivid color in autumn; Loop B (30 sites) is much more open, dominated by sagebrush and grasses with little shade. The campground has 53 total sites: 48 that accommodate both RVs and tents, 3 tent-only sites, and 2 glamping sites. Roads and spurs are paved and many sites have cement pads, tables and fire circles; there are flush toilets, drinking water and three accessible sites. There is no cell-phone service at the campground, and campers must occupy the specific site they reserved (site swapping is not allowed). Less than a quarter mile downhill is the Aspen Grove Day Use Area, where you'll find a boat ramp, boat rentals and slips, a fish-cleaning station and a small general store handy because the Strawberry Narrows Trail (a 12-mile multi-use route for hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders) begins at the day-use area. The reservoir is the big draw here: Strawberry Reservoir supports boating, water-skiing, canoeing and a strong fishery for rainbow trout, cutthroat trout and kokanee salmon, and the campground fee includes use of the boat launch. The surrounding Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest adds a long list of recreation options hiking, biking, OHV routes (the Strawberry OHV Trail System has about 75 miles of trails), horseback riding and wildlife viewing plus interpretive displays and a working fish-trap and egg collection station at the nearby Strawberry Visitor Center. Practical details: Aspen Grove is reached from Heber City by taking Highway 40 east about 33 miles, then south on Forest Road 090 for roughly 5 miles; the campground sits about a mile past Soldier Creek Dam. Payment options include cash, check or Scan & Pay; standard fees are posted by site type (examples: single sites $31, single with hookups $48, double sites $62, double with hookups $79, glamping sites $110; extra vehicle $10; picnicking in the campground $15). Reservations and changes go through Recreation.gov (transaction appears on your card as "Recreation.gov 877-444-6777") and facility-specific questions can be directed to (385) 273-1100. Note the reservation policies: changes or cancellations incur a $10 service fee, reservations cannot be changed beyond the booking window until 18 days after booking, late cancellations typically forfeit the first night's fee (and may incur the $10 service fee), no-shows can be assessed a $20 service fee and forfeiture of use fees, and refund requests must be made within 14 days of the scheduled departure.
