About

Lodgepole Campground sits at about 7,800 feet in Daniels Canyon, roughly 15 miles east of Heber City along Highway 40, with the campground on the right as you head toward Strawberry Reservoir. The sites line Daniels Creek through a mixed stand of pine, fir and aspen, with willows along the creek and summer wildflowers in the clearings. Anglers will find the creek regularly stocked with rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout, and the campground is also a handy base for day trips to Strawberry Reservoir (about 12 miles away) where boating and a larger variety of fishing and OHV opportunities await. A four-mile Foreman Hollow Trail begins in the campground, offering an easy-to-moderate loop that opens up views of Strawberry Reservoir, Strawberry Peak and Twin Peaks; the larger Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest around Lodgepole also supports biking, horseback riding, wildlife viewing and interpretive walks. Practical details are straightforward: Lodgepole has 28 total campsites 26 that accept both RVs and tents and 2 tent-only sites and is divided into Loop A (individual sites) and Loop B (two group sites). There are flush toilets, group picnic shelters, and a dump station included in the camping fee. Fee structure as posted: 21 single sites at $31 (capacity 8), 4 double sites at $62 (capacity 16), one group site for up to 50 people at $225 and one for up to 130 people at $470; day-use picnicking in the campground is $15 and extra vehicles are $10 each. Payment options include cash, check or Scan & Pay. Reservation and cancellation rules follow Recreation.gov policy: a $10 service fee applies to most changes or cancellations, late cancellations (the day before or day of arrival for individual sites) incur the service fee and forfeit the first night's fee, and no-shows may be assessed a $20 service fee and forfeit use fees; refund requests must be made within 14 days after your scheduled departure. For site-specific questions call (385) 273-1100 or manage reservations through Recreation.gov (1-877-444-6777).
