“We camped on a Monday-Wednesday in July and had the whole campground to ourselves! The creek was perfect for kids to play in. The sites and bathrooms were clean. Minus one star for water spigots out of order. We are already planning to come back next summer!”

Balsam Campground sits along Hobble Creek about 12 miles east of Springville at roughly 6,000 feet, where stands of maple, fir and cottonwood provide partial shade, clear fall color and a sense of separation between sites. The campground has 25 sites in total 10 designated for both RVs and tents and 15 tent-only sites clustered close enough to the creek for easy access to fishing but spaced enough for privacy. Hobble Creek is a local trout stream with opportunities for rainbow and brown trout fishing, and a handful of short trails begin at or very near the campground: the one-mile Deer Springs Trail starts at the top of the loop, Dry Canyon trails are nearby, and farther connections to Left Fork/Days Canyon and Kirkman Hollow open up hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and dirt-bike routes. Above the developed sites the canyon road narrows and tunnels through thick forest; the paved road ends about eight miles up the canyon and becomes a more rugged route that continues into Diamond Fork, offering scenic driving and ORV access where permitted. Facilities are simple and practical: single-family sites come with picnic and serving tables plus campfire rings with benches, and vault toilets are provided; the campground accepts payment by cash, check or Scan & Pay through the recreation.gov app. There are group facilities as well the campground lists a large walk-to group site (a steep paved access trail from the parking area leads to a cement site pad and a fire ring) that can accommodate around 100 people, and an additional smaller group site with capacity listed at 24 people; fees shown are $285 for the large group site and $87 for the smaller one. Single-site nightly fees are $29 (sites listed with up to eight-person capacity), day-use picnic in a campground is $15, and extra vehicles are $10 each. Reservation policy highlights you should know: changes or cancellations carry a $10 service fee, late cancellations may forfeit the first night's use fee (individual-site rules apply), no-shows can incur a $20 fee and forfeiture of use fees, and refunds must be requested within 14 days of your scheduled departure. For facility-specific questions call (385) 273-1100, and plan to bring your own drinking water and any hookups or amenities you need, as only the listed basics (tables, rings, vault toilets) are documented.
