“Beautiful spot and large campsites. The people at the lodge were very friendly and accommodating, even though we were not staying at their cabins.”
“Really liked the campgrounds BUT the road around needs fixing! Big potholes that could hang you up. Also the water looks VERY suspect. Reddish brown sentiment in our bottles. Thanks goodness we had brought some water with us. I wouldn't drink it!”

Greens Lake Campground sits at about 7,400 feet on the shore of its small namesake lake along Red Canyon Road (Forest Road 095), roughly 40 miles north of Vernal, Utah, off Highway 44. The site inventory is compact and straightforward: 20 campsites that accommodate both RVs and tents, plus a single group site that can hold up to 40 people. Most family sites include a picnic table and a campfire ring, and some of those sit close enough to the water to offer direct lake access or a water view. Facilities are minimal but functional for back-to-basics camping vault toilets and drinking water are available and the tree mix of lodgepole and ponderosa pine with pockets of aspen gives partial shade while summer wildflowers thread the meadows. Because Greens Lake is small and intended for quiet use, only non-motorized watercraft are allowed on the water. Recreation at Greens Lake centers on paddling and trout fishing (rainbow and brook trout are common) and easy access to trails. The Red Canyon Rim Trail for hiking and mountain biking begins at the nearby visitor center, which also has interpretive displays and current area information, and Red Canyon Lodge sits directly across the lake offering canoe and bike rentals, horseback rides, a restaurant and a gift shop. Beyond the campground, Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area and the Green River provide a broad range of water activities and guided dam tours, plus world-class reservoir and river fishing and rafting opportunities, but those services are generally hosted at nearby facilities rather than in the campground itself. Check with the Ashley National Forest office or the Red Canyon visitor center for up-to-date information on any fees, reservation requirements, seasonal openings, and road conditions before you go.
