“Canyon Rim campground is A1 in our view. Spacious sites and spectacular views. Highly recommended.”
“Incredibly you wake-up, climb out of your tent, and the most incredible vista is yours.”
“Very nice campground, clean and tidy. It wasn’t very crowded at all, just a few other retirees :) Nice to have a view of the canyon right there, too!”

Canyon Rim Campground sits in a grassy high-mountain meadow at about 7,400 feet along Forest Road 095 (Red Canyon Road), roughly 40 miles north of Vernal, Utah. The site cluster is small 15 family campsites in total and every site is configured to accommodate both tents and RVs; picnic tables, campfire rings and a few grills are provided, and drinking water and vault toilets are on site. Lodgepole and ponderosa pines dot the meadow and offer only patchy shade, so summer afternoons can be bright and wildflower-filled; the campground itself is about a mile from the red cliffs that drop down to Flaming Gorge Reservoir, giving you quick access to dramatic views without a long hike. There's no mention of electrical or sewer hookups, so plan for a relatively primitive, self-contained stay and check with Ashley National Forest or the nearby visitor center for current fees, reservation policies and seasonal opening dates. Recreation is centered on water and trail access nearby: Greens Lake, a short drive from the campground, is a popular spot for canoeing and fishing for rainbow and brook trout, and Red Canyon Lodge on the lake shore rents canoes and bikes and offers horseback rides, a restaurant and a gift shop. The Red Canyon Rim Trail begins at the visitor center near the campground and provides hiking and biking routes plus interpretive displays and area information; the broader Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area adds boating, jet-skiing, swimming, scuba diving and world-class trout fishing on the reservoir, as well as guided tours of Flaming Gorge Dam and whitewater rafting on the Green River below the dam. If you want to combine a relaxed campsite in a high meadow with easy access to trails, lake access and visitor services, Canyon Rim is a practical base just bring potable-water plans for extended stays and verify access and booking details before you go.
