Cedar Springs Campground sits at about 6,100 feet on a hillside above Flaming Gorge Reservoir, the campground's 23 sites arranged among juniper, pinyon pine and sagebrush. All 23 sites are set up to accommodate both RVs and tents and include the basics you expect for a compact forest campground: picnic tables, campfire rings, vault toilets, drinking water, a dump station and a fish-cleaning station. Sites are a mix of single- and double-family spots; shade is limited, but the vegetation between sites generally provides good privacy and many camps have clear views down to the reservoir and the red-rock cliffs beyond. Showers aren't on-site but are available about a half-mile away at Deer Run Campground, and larger group camping needs are served at nearby Arch Dam, Greendale, Dripping Springs, Antelope Flat and Dutch John Draw campgrounds. Recreation here is dominated by water: Cedar Springs sits less than a mile from Flaming Gorge Reservoir and is adjacent to Cedar Springs Marina, so boating, water skiing, jet skiing and paddle sports are straightforward to arrange, and the reservoir is known for excellent lake, brown and rainbow trout fishing. On land, the Bear Canyon Trail an easy three-mile round trip is close at hand and opens to views of Red Canyon and Flaming Gorge; the broader Ashley National Forest offers opportunities for biking, horseback riding, OHV use, wildlife viewing and interpretive programs. nearby attractions include guided tours of Flaming Gorge Dam and the visitor center's exhibits, while the Green River below the dam is a major draw for rafting trips that showcase the area's geology and historic rock art. Because seasonal openings, fees and reservation policies can change, check with Ashley National Forest or the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area before you travel for the most current access and reservation information.
