Three Creeks Lake Campground sits at 6,550 feet in a glacial cirque below Tam McArthur Rim, with campsites arranged along the shoreline of the lake so most sites have direct water views. The lake itself is a compact alpine basin about 28 acres across with a maximum depth around 28 feet whose outlet flows north and joins two other streams to form Three Creek; shoreline conditions range from gently sloping banks to rocky cliff. From the campground you can easily reach the Tam McArthur Trail (the trailhead is at neighboring Driftwood Campground) for a short, moderately easy hike that opens up views of the Three Sisters peaks Faith (North), Hope (Middle) and Charity (South). The lake is popular with anglers and paddlers: shore and wade fishing work fine, but many visitors prefer boat fishing in non-motorized craft (motorized boating is not allowed). Beyond the immediate lake, Deschutes National Forest offers extensive recreation roughly 1,600 miles of trails, routes for biking and horseback riding, auto touring along the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway, winter sports, visitor centers and interpretive programs so Three Creeks makes a convenient base for day trips to Metolius and Newberry volcanic sites, fish hatcheries, and other forest destinations. Practical details matter here: the campground contains 11 total campsites and all 11 are configured to accommodate both RVs and tents, but this is a primitive, no-water facility there are no potable water or electric hookups so bring your own water and be prepared for basic amenities. Each site includes a picnic table and a campfire ring with grill, and the campground has vault toilets only. Access is by Forest Road 16; the site lies roughly 17 miles south of the town of Sisters. Reservations are handled through Recreation.gov; note that once your reservation start date has begun neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager can modify your reservation. If you want lakeside solitude with straightforward, low-service sites and close access to hiking, fishing, and non-motorized boating, Three Creeks Lake delivers a clear alpine-lake experience.
