Frog Lake Campground sits at about 3,800 feet in a densely forested pocket between Highway 26 and the small, 10-acre Frog Lake, where the evening chorus of frogs is part of the soundscape. The lake itself is calm and small well suited to canoeing, swimming and non-motorized boating and anglers can expect rainbow trout. A compact day-use area with a boat ramp and picnic spots puts the water within easy reach of most campsites, and a trail climbs east toward Frog Lake Buttes for hikers. The Pacific Crest Trail passes just north of the campground along Forest Road 2610, and an unimproved forest road provides a short route for mountain biking and for high-clearance off-road vehicles; note that the Frog Lake Butte trail has seasonal restrictions (for example, closures to snowmobiles in February). The campground is relatively small and somewhat rustic: there are 30 sites in total, with 22 sites configured to accommodate both RVs and tents and 8 tent-only sites. Sites are equipped with a picnic table and a campfire ring with grill; parking areas are gravel or dirt and may be irregularly shaped. Utility hookups are not available and RVs longer than about 22 feet are not recommended. Accessible vault toilets and drinking water are provided, and firewood can be purchased from the campground host. For up-to-date information on fees, reservations, seasonal openings and road conditions, call the facility at (541) 352-6002; the campground is reached from Highway 26 (roughly 62 miles east of Sandy) via Forest Road 2610 near the Frog Lake Sno-Park, and it serves as a convenient base for the wider range of Mt. Hood National Forest activities such as hiking, fishing, boating, biking, winter sports and horseback riding.
