Still Creek Campground sits at about 3,700 feet on the banks of Still Creek, tucked on the south side of Highway 26 roughly a mile east of Government Camp, making it one of the closest developed camping areas to Mt. Hood. The sites are set in a mixed conifer stand of cedar, pine and fir with a dense shrub understory that gives a sense of separation between neighbors and lets you hear the creek running through camp. There are 26 single-family sites in all: 9 sites are configured for both RVs and tents and 17 are tent-only; parking surfaces vary across the loop (dirt, gravel and some paved), but utility hookups are not provided. Sites come with a picnic table and a campfire ring with grill; the campground has accessible vault toilets, drinking water, and scattered water-disposal points, and firewood can be purchased at or near the campground. Recreation radiates out from Still Creek you can hop on a range of trails for hiking, mountain biking or horseback riding, including the primitive one-mile stretch of the historic Barlow Trail that links camp directly to Government Camp. A short drive up Forest Road 1825 brings you to the trailhead for Ramona Falls, a 7.1-mile moderately difficult route to a series of cascades on the Sandy River, and Still Creek itself is a favorite for fly-fishing, where anglers commonly find trout and occasionally whitefish or salmon. Timberline Lodge, a National Historic Landmark on Mt. Hood, sits within about seven miles and expands options for sightseeing and snow sports (the area is used for winter recreation much of the year). The data provided here does not include current fees, reservation rules or seasonal opening dates, so plan to check the Mt. Hood National Forest page or Recreation.gov for up-to-date reservation, fee and access information before you go.
