“Pleasant experience. Helpful, friendly hosts. Nice, clean campground with views to die for of the mountain just a few steps away from the sites. ”
“Camp site was ready and clean when we arrived. Beautiful setting. Hiking trails close by. Check in was out on the road. Camp hosts were not friendly or accommadating. Never saw them out in the camp the whole time we were there.”

Trillium Lake Campground sits at about 3,600 feet on the shore of the 63-acre Trillium Lake in Mt. Hood National Forest, roughly 40 miles southeast of Portland just east of Government Camp and within about 10 miles of Timberline Lodge. The site is set in a mixed conifer forest that casts plenty of shade and gives a sense of separation between sites. There are 47 campsites in total: 33 sites designed for both RVs and tents and 14 tent-only sites, with a mix of reserved and first-come, first-served options and a handful of fully accessible sites. Parking surfaces are mostly paved with some gravel; each site includes a picnic table and a campfire ring with grill. The campground provides drinking water and accessible vault toilets, an adjacent accessible picnic shelter that seats up to 30 people, and an accessible amphitheater (also up to 30) that can be reserved for day use park staff run educational programs there on summer weekends. Recreation centers on the lake: a small boat ramp inside the campground and a larger ramp in the nearby day-use area support boating, while a designated accessible fishing pier serves anglers pursuing several trout species and swimmers use the lake in warm months. A roughly 2-mile Trillium Shoreline Trail loops the lake (sections are accessible), and the area links to additional hiking and biking routes; historical site tours are also popular in the vicinity. Because the campground sits within Mt. Hood National Forest, further opportunities from horseback riding and horse camping to climbing, winter sports, wildlife viewing and interpretive programs are available in the broader forest, though services vary by season and location. Fees, seasonal opening dates and reservation details change from year to year, so check the Forest Service or recreation.gov for current policies before you go.
