“Staying at Stone creek campground was a great experience. The campsites were very well maintained aswell as the restrooms. The camp hosts were great and took alot of pride in their work! Ten out of ten.”
“Pristine lake, trail around lake is mostly flat. Campground is very organized and clean bathrooms. This is a boon docking campground, no water, sewer or electric. Not crowded at all this week. Campsites are far apart-compared to Detroit Lake and such. ”

Stone Creek Campground sits on the southeastern shore of Timothy Lake at about 3,400 feet, tucked into a cove between the Hoodview and Gone Creek areas. The site layout keeps tent and RV campers in separate loops 24 campsites are set up for both RVs and tents while 21 are tent-only so generator noise is largely confined to the RV loop. A day-use area provides non-motorized boat access, picnic spots and direct trail access, and many campsites back onto mixed conifer forest with a thick rhododendron understory that creates a good degree of privacy between sites. Every campsite includes a picnic table and a campfire ring with grill; the campground also offers accessible vault toilets, potable drinking water, and on-site campground hosts in the main loop. Two equestrian-friendly group camps lie just across the road, making this a practical base for riders as well as individual campers. The campground is a convenient jumping-off point for lake and trail recreation on Timothy Lake, a roughly 1,400-acre reservoir created in 1956 for the Oak Grove Hydroelectric Project. The lake supports boating and sailing, windsurfing, swimming and angling expect kokanee salmon and several trout species while the campground's non-motorized boat access is handy for kayaks and canoes. The Timothy Lake Trail is a popular, relatively level 12-mile loop for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding and links to the Pacific Crest Trail and routes toward Clackamas Lake Campground; the historic Clackamas Lake Ranger Station district is under 3 miles away. Stone Creek lies roughly 28 miles from the base of Mt. Hood and about 40 miles east of Sandy via Highway 26, then south on Skyline Road and onto Forest Service roads to the campground entrance; the nearest gas is about 18 miles away (west on Hwy 26) and the closest grocery is in Government Camp, roughly 23 miles west.
