“Very clean. Friendly workers and camp hosts. Sites are spacious and well situated.”
“Great location on the lake plus view of Hood. Excellent hosts - thank you. Good hikes from camp. Check out Little Crater Lake for sure. 10 mile hike or can drive there, but why...”
“The campgrounds at Timothy Lake, managed by PGE, are very well maintained and the hosts are very welcoming and helpful. And the natural beauty....well, it's abundant.”

Hoodview Campground occupies a quiet stretch of the southeastern shore of Timothy Lake at about 3,400 feet, with many sites looking directly across the roughly 1,400-acre reservoir toward Mt. Hood. The water you see is a mid-20th century storage reservoir (created in 1956 for the Oak Grove Hydroelectric Project), ringed by mixed conifer forest and a thick understory of rhododendron that gives many sites a sense of separation and privacy. The lake is the focal point for on-site recreation: boaters and sailors use the open water, swimmers and windsurfers launch from the shore, and anglers fish for kokanee salmon and several species of trout. A 12-mile Timothy Lake Trail skirts the lake on relatively level terrain, popular with hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders and linked to the long-distance Pacific Crest Trail; the trail network also provides easy access toward Clackamas Lake Campground and the Clackamas Lake Ranger Station Historic District, a cluster of early-1900s Forest Service structures located less than three miles away. Practical amenities and logistics are straightforward: Hoodview has 45 single-family campsites in total 39 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and 6 tent-only sites each furnished with a picnic table and a campfire ring with grill. Accessible vault toilets and potable drinking water are provided, and a campground host is on site. The campground is about a 40-mile drive east of Sandy on Highway 26 before turning onto forest roads to reach the lake; the nearest gas and convenience store are roughly 18 miles to the west on Highway 26 and the closest grocery is in Government Camp about 23 miles away. Reservations require full payment at booking and some facilities may incur a non-refundable online reservation fee; a service fee applies to changes or cancellations and late cancellations may have additional charges see Recreation.gov Rules & Reservation Policies for details. Between 05/26/2023 and 09/30/2023 the campground is staffed (call (503) 834-2215); during the period shown as unstaffed (11/22/2022 to 05/25/2023) call (503) 464-8515 for general information.
