“Good fishing, good camping, on top of it campground host! ”
“We enjoyed our stay at Rock Creek Campground, Loop 4, site 25. It was plenty big and fairly private. Close walk to the lake, host checked in with us to see that everything was ok, overall great stay!! ”
“We like this campground for our paddling trips on the Cascade Lakes. It’s convenient enough and the loops are great for small groups. The downside is that a large number of trees were removed a few years ago so there is very limited shade.”

Rock Creek Campground sits along the western shore of Crane Prairie Reservoir right off the Cascade Lakes Highway, about a 50-mile drive southwest of Bend. The site is spread out along the lakeshore and contains 31 campsites, each designated to accommodate both RVs and tents; many sites are large, set apart from neighbors, and several sit immediately at the water's edge. Practical amenities that visitors will find on-site include a boat ramp with immediate access to Crane Prairie Reservoir and fish cleaning stations for anglers. Note that boat launch parking is for day use only and requires a separate recreation fee in addition to any camping charges, and the campground's layout follows the highway so access is straightforward from Cascade Lakes Highway. The reservoir is the focal point for recreation here: the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife manages populations of rainbow trout, mountain whitefish, brook trout and largemouth bass, so fishing and boating are the primary draws from the campground. Wildlife viewing is also excellent sandhill cranes, bald eagles and osprey are regulars, forest birds such as black-backed woodpecker, Williamson's sapsucker and mountain chickadee occupy the adjacent timber, and on summer mornings or evenings you may see Rocky Mountain elk grazing the lakeside meadows; deer, beaver, squirrels and the occasional black bear are also present. A short drive brings you to Osprey Point, an interpretive area that highlights local raptor nesting, and the long Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway runs nearby, opening auto-touring access to alpine lakes, hiking, biking and other forest recreation. If you reserve a site, be aware that once your reservation start date has begun neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager can modify your booking.
