“The campsite was OK. Nothing bad, but nothing spectacular. We did have table to sit at and few bugs. Only stayed one night so not much experience there.”

Sheep Bridge Campground sits where the Deschutes River feeds into Wickiup Reservoir, roughly 43 miles south of Bend via Highway 97 and the forest road network. The site is small and straightforward: 23 campsites in total, each configured to accommodate both tents and RVs (no electrical or water hookups available). Campsites come with picnic tables and campfire rings, and the campground provides drinking water and vault toilets. A gravel boat ramp at the campground gives direct access to the river and reservoir, making Sheep Bridge a practical base for anglers chasing rainbow trout, whitefish, bull trout and kokanee salmon or for small boats and pontoons headed onto Wickiup Reservoir. Beyond the campsites, Sheep Bridge is a good jumping-off point for wider recreation in Deschutes National Forest. Several trailheads that lead into the Three Sisters Wilderness are a short drive away, and the surrounding region offers hundreds of miles of hiking, horseback and mountain-bike routes, plus OHV areas and winter-sport opportunities in season. Newberry National Volcanic Monument and the Lava River Cave are about a 45-minute drive and the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway runs through the broader Cascade Range if you want a longer scenic loop. Practical notes: plan on basic, unserviced camping (no hookups), use the boat ramp for water access, and check Recreation.gov for fees and reservations once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.
