Crystal T ★ 5 · Aug 2024This was a wonderful campsite. We fortunately had the whole campground to ourselves other then the camp host checking things out very regularly. The Restroom was very clean and had extra air fresheners. The sounds from the road were annoying but slightly masked by the sounds of the river covering them up. We would definitely camp here again.
Rebecca S ★ 5 · Jul 2022Absolutely beautiful spot... a bit of noise from the highway since it is very close. But the river provides a lot of excellent white noise for going to sleep, and small hiking trails up the mountain can be found all over the site. Site 1 feels set apart from all the other camp sites so it has a more private feel. Very green and thick veggitation.
Olivia S ★ 1 · Jun 2022The campsite would not fit our camper at all and it's way under the max length. There would have been no way for us to even back the camper into the spot -- (campsite 08). Even if the trailer could have been backed into it, it would have been flipped the wrong way and it was on an edge so we would not have been able to get in or out of the camper. This is definitely not a campsite that is worth going to if you have a camp trailer, or unless you have a little tiny one.

Swinging Bridge Campground sits at about 4,000 feet in a narrow canyon just above Highway 55, roughly 21 miles north of Horseshoe Bend and about 10 miles north of Banks, Idaho. The North Fork Payette River runs alongside the highway in this stretch, and the site is shaded by a mix of Ponderosa and lodgepole pines; summer daytime highs typically reach the 80s to low 90s while nights are noticeably cooler. The campground is small and straightforward: there are seven single-family RV sites in total, each outfitted with a picnic table and a campfire ring, and the roads and parking spurs are paved. Vault toilets are available, but because the campground sits immediately beside the highway, some traffic noise can be expected. Recreation centers on the river: the North Fork is a draw for expert kayakers and anglers alike, with good to excellent fishing for whitefish and rainbow trout, and whitewater rafting available nearby on the Main and South Forks of the Payette. Beyond the immediate campground, the larger Boise National Forest offers a wide range of pursuits hiking, biking, horseback riding, boating, hunting, OHV use, wildlife viewing, winter sports and more so Swinging Bridge can serve as a compact base for diverse outings. Fees, reservation windows, and seasonal access details aren't listed here; check the Boise National Forest or the local ranger district for current rules, reservation policies, and any access advisories before you go.
