“Road to campground is very rough and long, distance to yosemite Valley and where all hiking trails and village located is about 1 hr drive”
“One of my favorite campgrounds in the Sierras. Nice to have the creek right next to the campsite. Take a walk to the upper falls and enjoy the breathtaking view. ”
“Great site! Definitely a rough road to drive in on, I recommend 4wd. But a beautiful and peaceful campground!”

Yosemite Creek Campground sits off the Tioga Road in the higher country of Yosemite, reached by a roughly five-mile single-lane dirt approach that makes arrival feel like a small backcountry commitment. The campground contains 74 sites in total 57 listed as both RV and tent sites and 17 tent-only but note that motorhomes and trailers are not allowed on the access road, so large rigs won't be practical despite the site breakdown. This is a primitive site: vault toilets are provided, there is no drinking water on-site, and a seasonal stretch of Yosemite Creek runs through the loop. The creek and surrounding granite boulders shape the character of the place, offering shady pines, rocks to sit on, and a steady soundtrack of moving water; because the creek can be intermittent and its water requires boiling or chemical treatment before drinking, campers should arrive carrying all the water they need. The campground shifted to reservation-only access in 2022, and its location on Tioga Road places you within reach of Tuolumne Meadows, Tenaya Lake and the High Sierra backcountry while keeping you away from the valley's crowds plan day trips rather than relying on on-site services. At the site level you'll find easy opportunities for bouldering, bird watching, short walks and creekside relaxing; for longer outings, nearby Yosemite Valley offers museums, bike paths and world-class climbing, and the Mariposa Grove and Pioneer History Center are a drive away. Come prepared for variable mountain weather layers, sunscreen, bug spray and plenty of water are essential and expect basic, self-sufficient camping conditions: primitive facilities, a dirt access road, seasonal creek flow, and the quiet that comes with being up in the High Sierra.
