Redwood Meadow sits in the southern reaches of the Giant Sequoia National Monument within Sequoia National Forest at about 6,400 feet elevation, a zone where roads and trails thread through stands of the world's largest trees. The campground is a practical base for visiting several named groves and routes in the southern monument most notably the Trail of a Hundred Giants and it places you within reach of Belknap Grove and Freeman Grove; elsewhere in the forest you'll also find mountain streams and waterfalls such as Salmon Creek Falls and Grizzly Falls. Access is by county routes east of Highway 99: take J22 through California Hot Springs, turn onto M50 for roughly 10 miles and then follow M107 about 4 miles to the entrance. The surrounding landscape supports a wide range of recreation across the forest (biking, fishing, hiking, horseback riding and horse camping, off-highway vehicle use, interpretive programs, and overnight stays in fire lookouts/cabins), while the immediate campground is focused on trail access and quiet time among the sequoias. The campground itself has a compact mix of accommodations: a total of 12 sites 5 sites set up for both RVs and tents, 6 glamping sites (yurts) that each can hold up to 6 people, and 1 tent-only site. There are no utility hookups or potable water on site, so RVs must be self-contained and everyone should plan to bring their own drinking water; vault toilets are provided.
