“Site was great. Right by the water. Camp hosts were FANTASIC.”
“First time at this site. Very clean campgrounds and restrooms. The river is mostly calm at this site and very chill compared to a lot of other campsites. Camp hosts were approachable, respectful, and very accommodating for our small issues. Will be staying here again!”

Camp Three Campground sits at about 2,800 feet on the Upper Kern River, shaded primarily by oak and locust with gray pines and scrub oaks clinging to the nearby canyon slopes; cottonwoods and willows thread the river's edge a short walk from many sites. The facility includes 50 individual campsites 49 that accommodate both RVs and tents and one tent-only site all on paved pads, plus a separate group camp that can hold up to 30 people for family gatherings or group outings. Basic services on-site are straightforward: drinking water is available, vault toilets are provided, and each site has a campfire ring. The campground is operated by Rocky Mountain Recreation Company, a division of ExplorUS, and hosts on-site can supply comment forms; for facility-specific information call (760) 376-1269. Note that published information does not list hookups or showers, so if you need those amenities check with the operator before you arrive. Recreational opportunities center on the river and the surrounding national forest. The Upper Kern is a draw for fishing, kayaking and rafting when flows allow, while trails nearby invite day hikes the Cannell Meadow National Recreation Trailhead is just north of Kernville. Beyond the immediate area, Sequoia National Forest offers a wider menu of activities including biking, horseback riding and OHV routes, fire lookouts and interpretive programs; popular day trips include Sequoia National Park, the Trail of a Hundred Giants and several sequoia groves in Sequoia National Monument. The campground is reached from the Bakersfield Lake Isabella corridor east of Highway 99 (via Highway 178 and Highway 155 to Kernville and then north toward the campground), so plan for a rural mountain drive and check with the campground operator about current conditions, river flows, fees and reservation policies before you go.
