Sinkhole Campground sits among a stand of ponderosa pines just off Willow Springs Lake Road, about a half mile from Highway 260. The campground contains 13 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents; all sites are back-in and the entrance, roads, and the back-in section are paved. Each campsite includes a metal campfire ring with grill and a picnic table, and the loop is serviced with drinking water, trash removal, accessible vault toilets and a camp host on site. Two of the sites are designated accessible and two are double sites (the remainder are single sites). Sites 1 through 13 are first-come, first-served; for facility-specific questions call (928) 535-0181. Recreation revolves around nearby Willow Springs Lake, about a mile from the campground, where boating and fishing are the main draws; Woods Canyon Lakes is roughly 10 miles to the west with a lakeside store that rents boats and kayaks. The non-motorized Wildlife Area and the General Crook National Recreation Trail (within about a mile) provide hiking and mountain-biking opportunities, and the wider Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest supports biking, horseback riding, OHV use on designated routes, wildlife viewing, picnicking and access to overnight cabins or lookouts. Expect cool to cold nights and a thunder-and-rain season that often brings heavy showers through July and August; for gas, groceries and phone service head about four miles east to Forest Lakes.
