Rim Campground sits a short drive from the edge of the Mogollon Rim, where many overlooks in the area open to long, wide views across the pine-covered country. The immediate campsite area is relatively flat and shaded by ponderosa pines; elk are occasionally seen wandering through the loops, so wildlife viewing can begin right at your tent door. The campground provides 13 pull-through sites, each roughly 40 feet long and configured to accommodate both tents and RVs (pop-ups, trailers and motorhomes). Every site includes a metal campfire ring with an attached grill and a picnic table, and the loop is served by accessible vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection. A camp host is stationed on site to help with on-the-ground questions and information. Recreational options extend beyond the campground: Woods Canyon Lake is about three miles away and offers fishing, boating and a marina store with groceries and boat and kayak rentals, while the wider Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest supports biking, hiking, horseback riding and camping, off-highway vehicle use, picnicking and other outdoor pursuits (including overnight stays in some fire lookouts/cabins). Rim Campground is reached from Highway 260 by turning onto Road 300 for roughly a mile; for up-to-date details on reservations, fees, seasonal openings or current fire restrictions, call the facility at (928) 535-0181 before you go.
