Jefferson Ridge sits along the shore of Dierks Lake, a 1,360-acre reservoir fed by the Saline River in the Ouachita Mountain region, where steep, forested ridges fall toward open water. That topography gives the campground a mix of shaded campsites and exposed points with long lake views, and the water itself is the focus of most activity: the project supports boating, canoeing and kayaking from two boat ramps, two sandy swimming beaches for warm-weather dips, and strong bass and crappie fishing that draws anglers. Hunters also use nearly 600 acres of public hunting land in the upper reaches of the project; common species include white-tailed deer, quail, dove, several squirrel species, cottontail rabbit and waterfowl. On shore you'll find a playground and picnic areas for families, plus spots for hiking, picnicking, wildlife viewing and other water sports when conditions allow. The campground is open year-round and provides a solid basecamp of services: there are 86 total campsites 81 sites configured to accommodate both RVs and tents and five tent-only sites and all sites include full electric and water hookups. Visitors will also find flush toilets, hot showers, drinking water and at least one dump station, along with two day-use group picnic shelters that can be useful for gatherings. Overnight accommodations, food, bait and tackle are available in the nearby towns, and a short drive from Dierks puts you within reach of Hot Springs National Park, the Diamond Mines at Murfreesboro, Crater of Diamonds State Park, Little Missouri Falls and the Cossatot River State Park for side trips. For current fees, reservation rules and any seasonal restrictions or special access requirements, check with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers managing the Dierks Lake project before you go.
