706 DEQUEEN LAKE RD
Open in Google Maps ↗
Bellah Mine Campground sits on the shore of DeQueen Lake, part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Rolling Fork River project, and offers a straightforward, waterside camping base for outdoor activity. The campground contains 25 sites in total: 24 sites set up to accommodate both RVs and tents and one tent-only site. Modern comforts at the loop include flush toilets, hot showers and potable drinking water, plus a large group picnic shelter that can be reserved for gatherings. Project personnel are on site to help with questions and local information. From DeQueen, the campground is reached by heading north on Highway 71 and turning west onto Bellah Mine Road roughly a 12-mile drive from town where gas, groceries and medical services are available before you reach the lake. What draws most visitors here is access to the water and the working landscape around it. Several boat ramps on DeQueen Lake make boating and water sports easy to get into, and anglers will find a varied fishery largemouth and smallmouth bass, spotted bass, black and white crappie, channel and flathead catfish, assorted sunfish, and stocked hybrid striped bass along the lake's 32 miles of shoreline. The broader project lands (outside developed recreation areas and the dam vicinity) are open for hunting and for hikers who don't need formal trails; game includes bobwhite quail, mourning dove, turkey, fox and gray squirrels, cottontail rabbit and deer. The dam was completed in 1977 for flood control and water supply, and the reservoir now spreads across an 8,700-acre rolling landscape that supports wildlife viewing, picnicking, playground and sport-site recreation across the project. For up-to-date information on fees, reservations, seasonal access and any required permits or regulations (including fishing and hunting rules), check with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission before you go.
