Open in Google Maps ↗
Pine Ridge Campground sits along the western shoreline of DeQueen Lake, a Corps of Engineers project on the Rolling Fork River that was completed in 1977 for flood control and water supply and now provides 32 miles of shoreline and roughly 8,700 acres of open landscape to explore. The lake is a working recreation area: several boat ramps put you on the water for powerboating, water sports, and shoreline fishing. Anglers will find largemouth and smallmouth bass, black and white crappie, channel and flathead catfish, spotted bass and a variety of sunfish, and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has stocked hybrid striped bass as well. There are no designated hiking trails inside the project, but the surrounding public lands are open for hikers and wildlife viewing; those same lands (outside developed recreation areas and the dam vicinity) are open to hunting for species such as deer, wild turkey, quail, doves, and squirrels, so check local seasons and regulations before you go. The town of DeQueen is nearby and provides gas, groceries and medical services; the campground lies a short drive north-northwest of DeQueen on DeQueen Lake Road. The campground itself contains 26 total campsites, each configured to accommodate both RVs and tents, and offers basic modern comforts: flush toilets, showers and drinking water are provided, and a large reservable group picnic shelter is available for gatherings. Day-use amenities and activities on the project include picnicking, a playground and a specialized sport site, plus ample shore access for boating and fishing. Because policies on fees, reservations and seasonal availability can change, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project office staff on site are the best source for up-to-date information and assistance; they can confirm current fees, reservation procedures and access rules to help plan your stay.
