“We camped the last weekend of the season. We were happy to get a last minute trip in. From Sandy during work hour traffic it was a 3.5 hour drive. The falls are absolutely stunning. We will deff return! ”
“This is a lovely campground with beautiful riverside views and spacious sites!”

Lower Falls Campground sits along the Lewis River in Gifford Pinchot National Forest at about 1,300 feet elevation, with a paved access road that threads under large evergreen trees and drops down to trails leading to the river and falls. The loop contains 41 campsites, all configured to accommodate both tents and RVs (parks list a 36-foot RV limit); sites are standard (no electric or water hookups), each furnished with a picnic table and a campfire ring with grill. Facilities are basic and forest-focused: composting toilets and drinking water are provided, but plan on self-sufficiency for power and gray-water needs. The campground is open seasonally from May through October; note the arrival policy if you do not occupy your reserved site by 1 p.m. the day after your scheduled arrival, you will be charged a $20 service fee, forfeit the first night's fee, and the site will be released for others. Recreation here centers on river access and a network of nearby trailheads: the Lewis River Trail and several others within about 10 miles (including Trail #31 Lewis River, Trail #5 Quartz Creek, and Trail #80 Wright Meadows) offer hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and motorcycle routes. Water features are a strong draw Lower Lewis River Falls, Curly Creek Falls, Big Creek Falls and Middle Falls are all within roughly a 15-minute drive and the Lewis River supports rainbow, cutthroat and bull trout plus whitefish (the area is catch-and-release only). Beyond the immediate campground, the wider Gifford Pinchot National Forest offers a broad range of outdoor activities such as boating, additional fishing opportunities, OHV routes, fire lookout cabins that can be stayed in overnight, swimming spots, picnicking and wildlife viewing. For access from the Seattle or Portland corridors, take I-5 to exit 21 and follow WA-503 east as it becomes Forest Road 90; the Pine Creek Visitor Center is a helpful landmark and Lower Falls Campground appears on the right just past mile marker 28.
