“So loud, one logging truck after another with Jake brakes blaring, stayed two nights and left 2 days early.”

Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area

Snag Cove sits on the western shore of Lake Roosevelt within the upper Columbia's sculpted basalt walls, a small, fairly isolated campground framed by pine trees and water. The loop contains exactly 9 campsites, and eight of those sit right on the lakeshore, giving most campers easy access to the water and shoreline views; all 9 sites can accommodate both tents and RVs. A well-placed boat launch with trailer parking and a courtesy dock occupies one edge of the campground, so it's straightforward to put a boat in the lake for a day on the water. The site is unstaffed, so practical arrangements reservations and any changes are handled online at recreation.gov; for general information you can call the park main office at (509) 754-7889. Recreation at Snag Cove centers on Lake Roosevelt: anglers use the shore and the ramp for boat fishing, swimmers and boaters find easy access to open water, and nearby trails within Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area offer hiking opportunities. The campground is popular with families, hunters and fishermen and, because of its size and location, often fills during the summer months plan ahead and make a reservation (this is a reservation-only campground). All booking, changes and cancellations must be done through recreation.gov; if you cancel the day before or on the day of arrival you will be charged a $10 service fee and forfeit the first night's use fee (not to exceed the total paid); a one-night reservation canceled on arrival day will forfeit the entire amount paid and will not be assessed an additional service fee.
