“There was a group of people in spot 1 that had a camp fire that made me nervous. Other than that it was good”
“North Gorge is a very nice little campground with plenty of shade, good swimming and boating. ”

Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area

North Gorge Campground sits at the northeast edge of Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area, where upper Columbia River shorelines meet stands of pine and the steep, stony walls left by ice-age floods. The campground occupies a compact loop on the lake's edge; a small public boat launch and a dock are located on the north (right) side of that loop, so boating, fishing, swimming and even waterskiing are easy to access directly from camp. There are 11 reservable sites in total: six sites are configured for both RVs and tents and five are tent-only, so most of the campground has a tent-camp character although a number of sites will take a modest RV. Expect summer weekends to be busy, and enjoy views and quiet moments among the pines that reveal the human history here American Indian use, the era of traders and trappers, and the changes that came with dam construction on the Columbia. Practical details matter at this small, unstaffed facility: all campsites are reservation only through recreation.gov (no first-come sites), and reservations can be made year-round though campsites are not plowed in winter. Peak season runs May through September at $23 per night; the off-peak rate from October through April is $11.50. Each site includes a picnic table and campfire ring. Changes and cancellations must be handled through recreation.gov; canceling the day before or on the day of arrival incurs a $10 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's use fee (one-night reservations forfeit the entire amount paid and are not charged an additional service fee). For general information call the park office at (509) 754-7889. The campground is reached from Spokane by taking WA-395 north to Kettle Falls, then Highway 25 north toward the park (the campground sits on the west side of the highway), and nearby points of interest include the National Park Service run St. Paul's Mission in Kettle Falls, Fort Colville, the Hudson's Bay Company post sites, and the Sherman Drive scenic loop.
