“well kept ct with some nice riverside sites for tenting. Good pit toilet. Would like to see a potable water source. Mid September and there were still quite a few skeeters.”
“Great location and very good facilities. Very quiet for how close the campground is to the highway and railway. ”
“Campsite was nice and first few days we saw and heard lots owls, bat, and other wildlife. Water wasn't great but was accessible. Highly recommend bringing plenty of potable water with you.”

Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area

Kettle River Campground sits at the water's edge of the Kettle River with most of its 13 campsites arranged along the shoreline so you wake to river views and shade from thick stands of ponderosa pine and Douglas fir. The loop is small and family-friendly every site accommodates both RVs and tents and comes with a picnic table and a fire pit, and there is direct water access and a courtesy dock for tying up small boats (there is no boat launch). This is a reservation-only facility; all bookings, changes, and cancellations must be handled through recreation.gov. The campground is unstaffed, so for general questions you can call the Lake Roosevelt office at (509) 754-7889. Be aware of the reservation cancellation policy: cancelling the day before or on the day of arrival incurs a $10 service fee and forfeiture of the first night's use fee (a single-night reservation will forfeit the entire amount paid). Outdoor opportunities at Kettle River reflect the broader Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area swimming is pleasant in summer, shoreline fishing is convenient from camp, and boating is possible from the courtesy dock or nearby public launches on the lake. Anglers will find walleye, bass, rainbow trout, salmon and sturgeon in the waters (sturgeon fishing is allowed during a short season), while birders regularly spot waterfowl, raptors and even bald eagles; moose, elk and deer are also seen in the surrounding forest. The campground tends to be quiet and doesn't often fill, making it a good base for families who want easy access to the river and low-key evenings around the fire. Geographically, Kettle River is on the west side of Lake Roosevelt, about 80 miles north of Spokane along Highway 395 (roughly 7 8 miles north of the town of Kettle Falls), and sits within the dramatic upper-Columbia landscape carved by ice-age floods and reshaped after the construction of Grand Coulee Dam. Nearby history and scenic drives including St. Paul's Mission, Fort Colville and the Sherman loop are all within easy reach for day trips.
