“Best hiking trails in the Kettle Falls area.”
“The campground was very quiet and was nice to see the wildlife just freely walk through the camp. The bathrooms were cleaned daily and restocked. Definitely plan on coming back! Lots of shade wasn't to much sun, lots of water access. Just be prepared for mosquito! ”

Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area
Open in Google Maps ↗
Haag Cove Campground sits on the west side of Lake Roosevelt where the upper Columbia's sculpted basalt walls drop into long stretches of water. The eighteen sites are spread along an open shoreline dotted with scattered pines and low brush; that pattern leaves most camps with sweeping lake views and pockets of shade but relatively little separation between neighbors. Twelve sites accept both RVs and tents and six are tent-only, and each site comes with a picnic table and a metal fire pit. There is water access at the campground for basic needs, and shoreline anglers and families looking to fish from shore will find easy access to the lake right from the loops. The site is quietly rural it's often peaceful midweek but tends to fill on holidays and summer weekends and there is no on-site staff or boat launch/courtesy dock, so larger boats must use other ramps in the area. Practical details matter here: Haag Cove is reservation-only (all bookings are handled through recreation.gov) and the campground enforces standard cancellation rules cancellations made the day before or on the day of arrival incur a $10 service fee and forfeit the first night's use fee (not to exceed the total paid); a one-night reservation canceled will forfeit the full amount paid and will not be charged an additional service fee. The campground is unstaffed; for general information call the park office at (509) 754-7889. In terms of location, Haag Cove is about 83 miles north of Spokane on the west shore of Lake Roosevelt, accessed from Highway 395/WA-20 near Inchelium Road and Haag Road. If you need a managed boat launch, French Rock is roughly 5.5 miles south, and cultural sites such as St. Paul's Mission at Kettle Falls lie about 8.2 miles to the north while the broader Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area offers boating, hiking, swimming, and more, Haag Cove's strengths are its water-front campsites, shoreline fishing, and quiet, open setting.
