Smithfield Campground sits in the green, rocky corridor of Smithfield Canyon about 12.4 miles northeast of Logan, Utah, at roughly 5,500 feet elevation. The campground is a small, low-key launch point for days on the Mount Naomi Wilderness: the Smithfield Canyon trailhead is about two miles up the canyon and includes a stock loading ramp, and Trail 007 carries hikers and horse riders across the wilderness toward Tony Grove Lake. You'll find a mix of spring and summer wildflowers here glacier lilies are common from April through July and the canyon attracts songbirds and small mammals; elk and deer are seen occasionally. The immediate area supports hiking, mountain biking, fishing and horseback riding, and the campground's proximity to longer wilderness routes makes it a good base for people looking to combine a mellow car-camp night with more ambitious day trips. The site is deliberately small: there are 6 total campsites, each set up to accommodate both RVs and tents and furnished with a picnic table and a fire ring, plus one group day-use site. Vault restrooms are available on site. Single campsites are priced at $25 (capacity 8 people plus one vehicle per site), a day-use ticket is $15, the group day-use site is $78 (capacity 40 people), and extra vehicles are $10 each per day; payment accepted by cash, check or Scan & Pay through the Recreation.gov app. Reservations are handled through Recreation.gov and carry standard service and change rules: a $10 service fee is withheld for refunded cancellations, late cancellations (the day before or on arrival) forfeit the first night's use fee in addition to the $10 service fee, and no-shows are assessed a $20 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's recreation fee. Changing reservation dates entirely outside your original booking may incur a $10 change fee, while extensions or shortenings that include original dates typically do not. Interagency pass discounts are limited to certain passes (Senior/Golden Age, Senior/Golden Access, and Access passes), apply only to individual campsites when the pass holder occupies the site, and do not cover group facilities or reservation fees. Refunds are requested through your Recreation.gov profile (within seven days of your reservation end for online requests); card refunds go back to the original card and cash/check refunds are issued by Treasury check. Recreation.gov may modify policies as needed and will show transactions on statements as "Recreation.gov 877-444-6777 NM."
