Paris Springs Campground sits up in Paris Canyon about five miles west of the small town of Paris, Idaho, at roughly 6,600 feet elevation. The site is compact 12 campsites in total and the Forest Service inventory lists all 12 as usable for both RVs and tents; older campground material also notes the area's layout includes three group sites and nine single-family sites. Camps are tucked into a mixed conifer and aspen stand that provides plentiful shade and pockets of summer wildflowers. Paris Creek threads along the edge of the campground after rising at Paris Spring, and a short 300-yard trail from the site leads to the spring itself. Basic amenities on site are vault toilets and a drinking water source; there's no electricity and the internal roads and parking spurs are dirt, so expect a rustic, low-impact experience and come prepared for unpaved access. The provided material doesn't list fees, reservation procedures, or seasonal closures, so check the Caribou-Targhee National Forest website or contact the Montpelier Ranger District before you go. The campground is a quiet base for creekside fishing and short hikes, and it also gives access to longer backcountry adventures. The Highline Trail the Montpelier District's principal route is nearby and runs 55 miles along the Bear River Range; it's popular with hikers, horseback riders, mountain bikers, motorcyclists and off-highway vehicle users. Closer to camp, the Paris Ice Cave is an unusual, undeveloped cavern you can walk through on a footpath and see ice that persists year-round. Bear Lake State Park, about 20 miles away, opens up water recreation such as boating, water skiing, fishing and swimming, and hosts Raspberry Days the first weekend in August. Beyond the immediate campground offerings, the broader Caribou-Targhee National Forest supports biking, hunting, winter sports and abundant wildlife-viewing opportunities a good range of choices if you want to combine a few quiet nights by the creek with longer day trips into the surrounding mountains.
