Link Creek Campground sits along the wooded shore of Suttle Lake, about 13 miles northwest of Sisters off Highway 20/126 before a short turn onto the forest road that serves the Suttle Lake recreation area. The lake itself is clear and relatively deep about 253 acres with an average depth of 44 feet and supports kokanee, brown trout, whitefish and crayfish, making it a steady draw for anglers. A shallow, clear feeder called Link Creek empties into the lake and is easy to peer into during spawning season; Lake Creek carries water east from Suttle Lake toward the Metolius River. From the campground a 3.2-mile Suttle Lake Loop Trail follows the wooded shoreline through developed recreation areas and is largely flat, inviting walkers, joggers and anglers to stop for a picnic. In summer most visitors come for boating (there's a boat ramp inside the campground), fishing, swimming and the many mountain-bike and hiking routes that connect into the surrounding Deschutes trails network; in winter the same forested terrain hosts cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The campground provides 33 units in all: 30 sites configured for both RVs and tents and three glamping yurts that are available year-round. Standard campsites come with a picnic table, campfire ring with a grill, nearby drinking water and vault toilets, but there are no electrical hookups, so plan accordingly. Pets are permitted at the tent/RV sites but are not allowed inside the yurts. Each yurt has a wood stove for heat and is furnished with a bunk (double and single mattress), a double futon, table and chairs guests must bring their own linens, lantern and cooking utensils since there is no electricity. Motorized and non-motorized boats are allowed on Suttle Lake from the campground ramp, and the broader Deschutes National Forest offers nearly 1,600 miles of trails, scenic byways such as the Cascade Lakes route, wilderness access and other outdoor opportunities; note that once your reservation start date has begun the booking cannot be modified through Recreation.gov or by the campground manager.
