“Super clean campground, great hiking trail along river (but look out for ground nests of wasps), enjoying visiting Wizard Falls, plenty of toilet paper in the outhouse!”
“Love setting. Only downside was other camper running generator for 12 hr increments.”

Gorge Campground sits along the upper Metolius River as one in a chain of small riverfront sites near the river's headwaters; you'll reach it about 18 miles northwest of Sisters, following Highway 20 and Forest Roads 14 and 1419. The site is compact 17 campsites in total and every site is designated for both tents and RVs or trailers, though there are no electrical or water hookups. Each site includes a picnic table and a metal campfire ring with grill, and vault toilets are available in the loop; because this is a no-water facility you must bring your own drinking and cooking water. Reservations are accepted, but note the strict policy: once your reservation start date has begun, neither Recreation.gov nor the campground manager can modify it, so plan arrival dates carefully. For up-to-date information about fees and seasonal openings check Recreation.gov or the forest's official pages before you go. The Metolius River here is spring-fed and unusually clear and cold, making it a standout spot for fly-fishing expect to find rainbow trout, whitefish, bull trout and kokanee salmon in these pools. Trails along the river and into surrounding conifer forest offer everything from short riverside walks to longer backcountry routes; the nearby Metolius Windigo Trail, which begins close to the river headwaters, is open to hikers, bikers and horse riders for extended outings. Natural features within easy reach include Metolius Springs at the base of Black Butte (a 3,076-foot cinder cone) and several interpretive sites: the Camp Sherman Fish Viewing Platform and the Metolius Research Natural Area for birdwatching, plus the Metolius and Wizard Falls hatchery display ponds. If you want to expand a day trip, Bend's Lava Lands Visitor Center and the Newberry National Volcanic Monument home to the 5,211-foot Lava River Cave are regional stops that explain the volcanic landscape that shapes much of the area's scenery and wildlife habitat.
