“It was beautiful and restrooms were clean and the campground was tidy. The host was around a lot so accessible if there were any issues, which luckily there weren't. I appreciated that the site was open due to the shutdown.”
“We come here annually. Great view of the river. Drawback is no running potable water. ”
“Absolutely beautiful area, clean campground, nice a quiet, the Metoulis river is amazing and healing and so nice and cold on the 97+ degree days! Love Allen Springs campground!”

Allen Springs Campground sits among tall ponderosa pines on a bend of the Metolius River where the channel widens, giving many sites direct river views and a quiet, shaded setting. The campground is small 15 sites total laid out in a circular loop along the riverbank. Each site includes a picnic table and a metal fire ring; there's a small shared picnic area and vault toilets on site, but no potable water, so bring your own supply. Site types are split between eight tent-only sites and seven sites that can accommodate both tents and RVs; the loop is tight in places, so even the RV-capable sites are best for smaller rigs and for campers comfortable backing into compact spaces. Outdoor access here emphasizes low-key, close-in recreation: short forest walks and a network of nearby trails make hiking and mountain biking easy from camp, and the ponderosa stand is good for bird and wildlife viewing. The campground provides direct river access for enjoying the Metolius atmosphere, and the broader Deschutes National Forest supports activities such as fishing, swimming, boating and more; the town of Sisters and the Sisters Wilderness Trailheads are a short drive to the southeast for supplies and longer trail options. Allen Springs is reached from Sisters by heading northwest on Highway 20 and turning onto Forest Road 14; check Recreation.gov for current fees, season dates and to reserve a site. Note that once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager can modify your reservation, and with limited services on site you should arrive prepared (water, fuel, and emergency supplies).
